If Fates Allow

Loren at I Saw Lightening Fall hosts a Christmas Ghost Story compilation this time every year. 100 words, no more, no less!  The song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas never sounded much like a joyous celebration of the season to me, a little heartbreaking actually. But it did serve as inspiration to this merry little tale.

“Have yourself a merry little Christmas now…”

The needle lifted, retreated, lowered.

Pop, hiss – music…

“Have yourself, a Merry Little Christmas…”

The flag, neatly folded above the mantle, had looked so crisp on his coffin.

She wore her best dress, and played their favorite song. One hand held his picture, the other, his pistol.

The song played on; “friends dear to us, will be near to us, once more.”

Till death do us part? She wondered, and pulled the trigger.

“Someday soon, we’ll be together, if fates allow…”

The needle lifted, retreated, lowered……

They found her New Year’s Eve.

Respect in Ferguson and everywhere else
The events in Ferguson ( in my view as a black american) brings tears to my eyes because it outlines the basic problem in america when it comes to race relations. If the officer had been black and the circumstances the same, this would not be a story BUT when a group of blacks kidnap,…

The Truth
What an exceptional article written by a man who has truly 'been there' and that has but one purpose in mind: to herp his brothers and sisters deal with the demons that some of them are wrestling with. Please, if you are wrestling with problems of addiction, stress, or personal strife, pick up a telephone…
